Competition Winner

Back in June the writing box I had made was selected for the Bridgwater College end of year furniture exhibition which is held at the Court House Gallery, Somerton. The exhibition ran in conjunction with the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen Life Of Trees Exhibition. Visitors to the Gallery were asked to vote on which college piece they desired most, the four pieces with the most votes would be then judged on  design and technical quality. Finally they would be judged by one of our country`s top furniture designer/makers Tony Portus of Cato Design and The Makers Eye.

​I`m pleased to say I won the competition on all three counts, my box had most votes from the public, it was the judges choice and Tony Portus chose it as his winner.

​I won a cheque for £300.00 and all four finalists were given a years associate membership to The Somerset Guild of Craftsmen. the prizes were sponsored by The Friends of Somerset Arts Week and The Somerset Guild, thank you to both. I would also like to thank Steve Hopper my course tutor, Tony Portus and  the people who voted for my writing box.
